Biography
Emily is the Director in the Learning Institute for the Simulation and Resuscitation Education Programs. Emily's career at SickKids started in 1998 as a Respiratory Therapist in the NICU. Her career turned towards education when she became the Clinician Educator for Respiratory Therapy and developed the BLS Training Program. Emily joined the Learning Institute in 2008 as a Simulation Educator where she used her expertise in simulation to ensure the delivery of high-quality simulation-based education and training for clinical and non-clinical partners, quality improvement and patient safety, and process improvement. Emily was integrally involved in the successful accreditation of the program by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, and in 2014 was involved the QI project “The Use of In-situ Simulation as a Needs Assessment to Detect Human and System Errors” recognized as a Leading Practice by Accreditation Canada. Emily completed a Master of Arts (Leadership) in 2019 from the University of Guelph. Emily is currently the Chair of the Simulation Steering Committee.
